Whereas the Council of Churches of the Ozarks intends to offer the pastoral service of performing a marriage ceremony for those seeking to be married by a representative of the Christian faith;

Whereas the Council of Churches of the Ozarks intends to allow an individual employed by the Council of Churches of the Ozarks and recognized by the Christian faith community as one able to perform marriages to volunteer to provide such services;

Whereas the Council of Churches of the Ozarks intends to allow marriage ceremonies to be scheduled to be preformed during regular business hours and at its main office location,

Whereas the Council of Churches of the Ozarks intends to offer this service to the community as an outreach, that is at no charge, and that it does not intend to establish a “suggested donation” for marriage services;

Whereas the Council of Churches of the Ozarks intends that if the couple being married want to make a donation for the marriage service the donation should be accounted for as a donation to the Council of Churches of the Ozarks and not as a fee paid to the individual performing the wedding;

Resolve that the Council of Churches of the Ozarks will allow an employee to volunteer to provide marriage services for the general public given the following set of conditions:

The Council of Churches of the Ozarks will allow its name and telephone number to be posted as an entity providing pastoral marriage services only at the Greene County Registrar of Deeds office and NOT any where else.

The Council of Churches of the Ozarks will allow marriages to be preformed on its premises given that the space (room) being used for the service has not been “booked” by another entity prior to the time of the wedding, that the space (room) is ONLY used to perform the marriage ceremony and not to be used for other wedding purposes, such as receptions, and that the use of the space (room) is limited to 30 minutes.

The Council of Churches of the Ozarks will allow callers to use the main switchboard and that the calls will then be referred to the employee who will perform the marriage. The switchboard staff shall not be responsible for any part of the scheduling for such services other than referring the caller.

In Summary, the Council of Churches of the Ozarks anticipates that this service will be a blessed and faith filled experience for both the employee and the couple being married. The Council of Churches of the Ozarks intends this service to reflect its core values and mission statement. The Council of Churches of the Ozarks reserves the sole right to review or suspend this service at any time.
