Child Care Aware® of Southern Missouri
A Message From the Director
Hi I’m Nicole, Director of Child Care Aware® of Southern Missouri. Welcome! Please look around our site and get to know a little more about what we do to serve families, child care professionals and the community. Let us know if we can be of service or if you have any questions. We look forward to serving you!
2016 was Another Memorable year
In the Fall, the Early Childhood One Stop created a new partnership with Parents As Teachers to use a more consolidated intake form. In doing this we are seeing a growth in the number of children we are serving. In the coming year we will be moving to implement this new process with additional organizations across Greene County.
Another success came in our Taking Steps to Healthy Success project. This project focuses on offering group training and technical assistance to child care programs around implementing healthy eating and physical activity. Keri’s Kidsville, one of the child care centers we worked with is now being recognized nationally for the work they did since they began the Taking Steps to Healthy Success program. During their time in our project, Keri, the owner of Keri’s Kidsville became certified in Eat Smart (Intermediate), Move Smart (Advanced), Breast Feeding Friendly Childcare and Breast Feeding Friendly Workplace. She wrote grants to be able to install a greenhouse at her child care center. Our staff is fortunate to be able to share stories like this with national partners/ funders and as a result they will be sharing Kerri’s story on the national Let’s Move website, which was created under former First Lady Michelle Obama’s leadership. We are proud of Keri and honored to have been a part of her journey!”
