The Math & Reading Buddy Programs utilize the experience and compassion of caring adults to inspire hope in children through tutoring and mentoring.

The Math & Reading Buddy Programs provide training, resources, and support to equip volunteers to tutor kindergarten through third-grade students in reading and first and second-grade students in math. Volunteers help students increase both their confidence and ability through one-on-one sessions during the school day.

Services

Reading Buddy Program

A Reading Buddy volunteer meets with a kindergarten through third-grade student during the school day to ignite a passion for reading. Volunteers provide positive mentorship and encourage struggling readers. The Reading Buddy Program trains volunteers in reading strategies and student engagement. Students are referred for the program by teachers or school administration. The Reading Buddy program is available in Springfield, Fordland, Highlandville, Marshfield, Nixa, Republic, and Willard school districts.

Math Buddy Program

A Math Buddy volunteer meets with a first or second-grade student during the school day to improve math fluency through fun and engaging sessions twice a week. Math Buddy volunteers lead hands-on activities and play math games one-on-one with a student, fostering positive self-esteem and confidence. The Math Buddy Program trains volunteers and provides resources to support students’ learning. Students are referred for the program by teachers or school administration. The Math Buddy program is available in select elementary schools in Springfield Public Schools.
