Each day, CCO staffers witness firsthand the challenges that many individuals face—especially our senior neighbors who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in vulnerable situations. Seniors, often living on fixed incomes or dealing with unexpected life events, can be particularly susceptible to financial instability, housing insecurity, and other crises. That is where our case management team steps in to make a life-changing difference.
Thanks to the ongoing support of a generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous, we have unrestricted funding that can be used toward the emergency needs of those we serve. This support helps not only sustain our team but also ensures that vulnerable individuals receive the personalized attention and resources they need to navigate difficult circumstances.
Recently, Case Management Team Lead, Jessica Luraas, had the opportunity to share with this donor just how deeply their extraordinary giving is impacting lives. Here is what she shared:
Thank you for continuing to support our case management program. It means so much. Today we helped a woman who is 71, her husband of 54 years just died, and his veteran’s benefits are delayed. She got behind on rent, so we paid for two months until she gets the benefits. She had been in her home for 20 years and was terrified. The funding we used to pay her rent was from a grant we get for seniors, but it takes staff to get that money out to the people who need it. Kayla took the initial call and Rodney facilitated vetting and payment. And she gets to stay in her home. So, thank you ❤️…
This is just one example of how case management services can truly make all the difference in the lives of seniors. When a senior faces a sudden loss or change in economic status —whether it is health-related, financial, or emotional—the stress can be overwhelming. But with the right support, those challenges become more manageable. Our team helps navigate complex systems, secure emergency funds, and provide peace of mind, one step at a time.
Though our donor prefers to remain anonymous, we want to take a moment to publicly express our deep gratitude. Their kindness has been a lifeline for so many people, especially seniors who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges. The case management services offered by CCO do not just provide financial support—they offer hope, stability, and a chance to stay in homes and communities built over a lifetime.
