In the spirit of generosity and community support, the Council of Churches of the Ozarks recently received a heartwarming letter from an individual enrolled in our Case Management Program. This letter serves as a poignant testament to the transformative power of a private donation, enabling us to extend crucial assistance to those facing adversity, especially during challenging times such as the holiday season.
The letter we received encapsulates the gratitude and relief felt by one single father of five children, two of whom reside with him. Faced with the complexities of single parenthood, limited state assistance, and no support from the other parent, this individual found himself in a precarious financial situation. The convergence of his home and electric bills on the same day heightened the struggle. However, through funds from a private donation, CCO provided immediate assistance by covering his utility bill, preventing his children from being uncomfortable due to the lack of essential utilities. His heartfelt expression of gratitude echoes the sentiments of many who have benefited from the kindness and compassion of our donors.
The Letter Reads:
“From the bottom of my heart, Thank you. I’m a single dad of 5 kiddos, and 2 of them live with me. I receive very little help from the state and no support from mom. Some months it’s a struggle and some I make it by. This month will be my hardest because my home and electric landed the same day. By your help, my kids won’t have to be out of their comfort zone due to no utilities. What you have done for us is God-sent, and this world needs more people like you. Happy holidays and God bless.”
Over the past year, Council of Churches of the Ozarks has diligently worked with approximately 50 families through our Case Management Program. The impact of this work has been further amplified through funds received from private donations and grants, totaling roughly $10,000. These funds have been strategically allocated to address the immediate needs of families, including rent and utilities.
Recognizing the importance of holistic support, our program mandates that recipients of financial assistance undergo Budgeting and Financial Counseling Classes. These classes, conducted in collaboration with local partnering banks, empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively, ensuring long-term stability.
Moreover, our clients are encouraged to secure and maintain employment, with most actively participating in activities to foster self-sufficiency. The goal is to guide individuals and families on a transformative journey from scarcity to security.
The Council of Churches Case Management Program extends its heartfelt gratitude to all our donors, especially those who have made private donations. Your generosity has alleviated immediate hardships and sown seeds of hope, resilience, and empowerment within our community. As we navigate the challenges of the present and look toward a brighter future, we remain committed to creating positive change and building a more compassionate and supportive world.
