Since 1988, the month of May has been recognized as National Foster Care Awareness Month.
In Greene County alone, there are nearly 700 children in foster care. These children can experience unimaginable struggles. Ambassadors for Children (AFC) is a CCO program that strives to meet these children with a message of help, hope, dignity, and love. We share they are so much #MoreThan the label of “foster child.” They can be anything they want to be! The annual #IAmMe campaign at CCO raises funds to support children and youth in care in Greene, Taney, and Christian Counties.
As a special gift to our community, every dollar donated to AFC, up to $50,000, during the month of May will be matched one-to-one by Bill and Virginia Darr!!!!
Your gift will expand awareness of the foster system and provide new clothes, health and hygiene items, and supportive services to children and youth in care!
Ways to Sponsor a Foster Child
- $10,000 Sponsorship
- Could support the AFC Clothing Boutique for one month and 60 youth with new items.
- $500 Sponsorship
- Could provide two visits to the AFC Clothing Boutique for a child in care
- $250 Sponsorship
- Could fulfill a Christmas “wish list” for any of the 700 kids AFC sponsors.
- $100 Sponsorship
- Could provide bunk beds and bedding that keep a sibling group together.
- $50 Sponsorship
- Could provide one hour of tutoring for a child in care.
