Identity, Unity, and Community: The Heart of Our Mission in 2025

As we step into 2025, the Council of Churches of the Ozarks embraces three guiding principles that will shape our mission and ministry throughout the year: Identity, Unity, and Community. These words are more than themes—they are a call to action, a vision for a stronger, more compassionate region where faith and service intersect.

Identity: Who We Are and Why We Serve

Each of us carries a unique identity, shaped by our faith, our experiences, and our shared purpose. As an organization, our identity is deeply rooted in our commitment to Christ’s call to serve found in Matthew 25. We are more than a “council” – we are a coalition – of churches, organizations, and individuals dedicated to transforming lives through acts of love and service. In 2025, we will focus on deepening our understanding of our collective identity—what it means to be a faith-driven organization in an ever-changing world—and how we can better reflect our values in everything we do.

Unity: Strength in Coming Together

In a time when division can feel overwhelming, CCO chooses unity. Our strength as the Council of Churches comes not from uniformity, but from our ability to stand together despite differences, embracing the richness of our diverse traditions. Through intentional collaboration, shared service, and a commitment to common goals, we will continue to demonstrate that when we work as one body, we can do so much more than we could ever do apart.  Being truly united calls us to “cross lines”, foster understanding, and find common ground as we serve our neighbors in need.

Community: Serving and Supporting One Another

Community is the foundation of our work. It is the reason we exist—to extend hope, resources, and spiritual care to those who need it most. This year, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the bonds within our communities, ensuring that no one is left behind. Whether through providing essential services, human connection or advocating for the vulnerable, we will live out our mission with open hearts and outstretched hands.

As we journey through 2025, these guiding words—Identity, Unity, and Community—will serve as our compass. They remind us of who we are, how we are stronger together, and why our work matters. We invite you to join us in this mission, to embrace these values in your own life, and to walk alongside us as we seek to make a lasting impact in the Ozarks.

Together, we can be the hands and feet of Christ, building a future rooted in faith, service, and love.
