National Diaper Need Awareness Week

September 18 – 24, 2023

Sarah’s heart raced as she grabbed the phone to call CCO’s Diaper Bank of the Ozarks. Just moments ago, she received a life-changing call from an adoption agency, informing her that they had chosen her and her husband to adopt a child. They had two days to prepare.

When Sarah got on the phone with a CCO volunteer, she inquired about formula. The volunteer asked Sarah if she needed diapers or anything else for the baby.

As tears welled up in her eyes, Sarah responded, “Yes, diapers would be a great help. We haven’t had much time to prepare, and we’re really nervous about everything we’re going to face.”

In the most gentle and compassionate way, volunteers assured Sarah that they would take care of everything.

Sarah and her husband took off work and made their way to CCO. When they arrived, they were greeted by smiling faces and open hearts. A team of dedicated volunteers had prepared everything they needed to start their new life as parents, ensuring they didn’t have to worry about finances during this critical time.

With the help of the Diaper Bank of the Ozarks program at Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Sarah and her husband embraced parenthood with open arms.

The journey ahead was still uncertain, but with the generosity and love of the Council of Churches, Sarah felt ready to face whatever challenges came their way.
